  • The increased power granted to the courts to support the arbitration process with interim measures in place (Articles 18)

  • The inclusion of modern communication methods such as video calling (Article 33 & Article 28)
  • Arbitrators outside UAE are not mandated to be present on the panel (Article 41(6))
  • Annulment, if any, must be made with a 30-day prior notification of the award pertaining to the parties. (Article 54 (2))
  • The Minister of Economy manages the arbitration institutions in order to charter to the professional code of conduct concerning the arbitrators (Article 58)
  • Simplifying the laws pertaining to enforceability of arbitration (Article 52)

The new arbitration law in UAE draws a clear distinction between arbitration conducted internationally and domestically. Therefore, the new laws are applicable to both international and domestic arbitrations.
